Peruvian President Dina Boruarte called for a “political truce” as hundreds of protesters took to the streets of the capital Lima. Witnesses reported clashes between some people in the crowd and police.
Several people and a police officer were injured, according to televised video.
The protests began in December when then-President Pedro Castillo was ousted. Since then, more than 50 people have died in the unrest.
