Fresno, California (KFSN) — City leaders have announced a new inexpensive youth sports program.
It’s low cost and gives kids more opportunities to compete on the field, diamonds and courts.
City Council Speaker Tyler Maxwell and Mayor Jerry Dyer launched a youth sports fee waiver program.
The City has allocated $300,000 to reduce fees for children and teens ages 3 to 15 who are interested in city-sponsored recreation programs.
This includes basketball, soccer, flag football, T-ball and fitness camps.
The waiver reduces the cost per program from $75 to $20.
According to the city, children will receive a complimentary welcome kit containing sports bags, reusable water bottles, sports jerseys and shorts.
To be eligible, the children must live in the city of Fresno and the family must demonstrate financial need.
