Broussard’s former mayor, Charles Langrinet, has died, according to a Facebook post by the city’s current mayor.
Langlinais has been dedicated to the city of Boursar for over 30 years. He served as mayor from his January 1991 until he December 2018. Prior to that, he was a city councilor from March 1987 until he was in December 1990.
Broussard experienced exponential growth during his tenure, including business investments by Home Depot, Walmart, Stine Lumber, and Albertsons. The city also saw infrastructure expansion through the construction of Albertson Parkway and the Ambassador Cafery under his leadership.
“His legacy will never be forgotten,” Mayor Ray Burke wrote in a Facebook post. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mayor Langrinet’s family. In honor of his service to Broussard, all city flags will be flown at half-mast for the next seven days.”
