The State Department has advised against traveling to Somalia because of “crime, terrorism, civil strife, health problems, kidnapping and piracy.”
“Violent crimes such as kidnapping and murder are common across Somalia, including in the Puntland and Somaliland regions. Illegal roadblocks are widespread.”
More than 120 people were killed and more than 150 injured in two car bombings in the country’s capital Mogadishu in October, Reuters reported.
