Binance has processed $345.8 million worth of bitcoin transactions on cryptocurrency exchange Bitzlato, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing data from blockchain research firm Chainalysis.
Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, has been shut down since May 2018 last week after the US Department of Justice (DOJ) accused the company and its founder of money laundering, according to an article. To date, we have made 205,000 transactions with Bitzrath.
Since August 2021, nearly $90 million worth of bitcoin has been transferred, according to the report. At this time, Binance said it would begin requiring stricter background checks on its clients to fight financial crime.
Last week, Binance was named one of Bitzlato’s top three counterparties by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).
Neither Binance nor Chainalsysis immediately responded to CoinDesk’s request for comment.
