India scored a stunning 317-run win at Thiruvananthapuram in their third and final ODI against Sri Lanka on Sunday to complete a 3-0 series win.
After threatening the 400-run mark for the second time in the series, India produced a stirring bowling display to end Sri Lanka’s innings with 73 runs.
With a batsman down after an injury to Ashen Bandara, Sri Lanka suffered a record-breaking 317-run loss in the final ODI.
This is the highest margin of victory in any men’s ODI and the first time any team has won a men’s ODI with more than 300 runs. The women’s ODI record is New Zealand’s 408 run victory over Pakistan in 1997.
